Château Clinet 2011 is a Merlot-dominant red Bordeaux from the Pomerol appellation. Château Clinet is a highly-regarded producer, celebrated for crafting rich and powerful wines from its clay and gravel soils. The 2011 vintage was a challenging year that produced wines with good freshness and structure. This bottling presents a complex bouquet of red and black cherry, plum and mocha, with hints of truffle and spice. The palate is well-structured and concentrated, with fine-grained tannins and a long, savoury finish.

Vinous
The 2011 Clinet has a perfumed nose, quite floral and perhaps more Saint-Émilion in style rather than Pomerol, though I appreciate its mineral undertow. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly more pliant tannins, fresher than its peers with spicy red fruit with a bitter but focused finish. This is a fine Clinet that is drinking perfectly now, though many vintages surpass this in recent years. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.Neal Martin1st April 2022
