Premier Cru Classé Sauternes wine producer from the Barsac appellation, Château Climens boasts a reputation for producing world-class sweet wines. A rare find from the 1921 vintage, long considered one of the best Sauternes and Barsac vintages of the 20th century.

Vinous
The 1921 Climens is conspicuously deep in colour compared to coeval vintages. Its origin comes through strongly on the nose with barley sugar, dried apricot, walnut and hints of lanolin. The palate is medium-bodied and very refined. The balance here is nigh irresistible, perhaps the most mellifluous Climens of the decade with stem ginger, marmalade and mandarin notes. Extremely persistent towards the finish that fans out gloriously, this is only bettered by the twin titans of 1928 and 1929. Tasted November 2009 at the Château Climens vertical in Zurich.
