Fifth-growth Château Clerc Milon is one of a trinity of Pauillac classified growths owned by the Baron Philippe de Rothschild family. This rare 1988 bottle is still quite youthful, with a complex, fruity nose. The palate is powerful and concentrated, with caressing tannins and lively acidity, keeping it all perfectly in balance.
78 Vinous
The 1988 Clerc Milon shows its age on the nose, rather cheesy and a little volatile and musty. The palate is medium-bodied with sharp tannin, very balsamic in style and attenuating sharply on the finish. This is simply past its best and my intuition is perhaps over-oaked when it was originally made. Tasted at the château. Neal Martin1st May 2018
