The Clarendon Hills Hickinbotham Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 showcases a deep, dark ruby color with a slightly tawny rim. On the nose, the wine presents aromas of blackcurrant and plum intermingled with hints of cedar and graphite. The palate is ripe yet retains a firm structure, revealing flavors of dark berries, dried herbs, and a touch of tobacco. Its tannins are finely grained, giving it a balanced mouthfeel with a persistent finish.
Clarendon Hills is known for its single-vineyard wines, and the Hickinbotham vineyard is particularly noted for its unique terroir in the McLaren Vale region of Australia. This Cabernet Sauvignon underwent a meticulous winemaking process, aged in French oak for 18 months to develop its complexity. With a moderate alcohol level and a vibrant acidity, this vintage has aged gracefully, offering insights into the evolving characteristics of Australian Cabernet over time.

Vinous
Saturated black-ruby to the rim. Brooding aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, tar, licorice and eucalyptus. Wonderfully sweet, thick fruit is lush and pliant, not to mention deep, but also fresh thanks to juicy acids. Slight minty nuance. Finishes very long and spicy, with strong, pure black fruit flavors.
