Distilled in 2010 at Chichibu and matured in a single Mizunara (Japanese oak) hogshead — Cask #1000 — before bottling in 2018. Mizunara is one of the rarest and most demanding cask materials in whisky. slow-growing, porous, difficult to work with, and capable of imparting extraordinary flavours. Incense, sandalwood, coconut, tropical fruit and a delicate spice. Cask #1000 is additionally a significant milestone number in the distillery`s history. A collector`s must.

Chichibu Distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery located in the small town of Chichibu, northwest of Tokyo. Established in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, it is a relatively young distillery in the world of whisky-making, but has quickly gained a reputation for producing some of the finest single malt whiskies in Japan. Chichibu's whisky-making process is steeped in tradition and attention to detail. The distillery sources only the highest quality malted barley from around the world, and uses a combination of pot stills and column stills to distill the whisky.
