Chianti Classico Brolio from Barone Ricasoli is a dry red wine from the Chianti Classico DOCG. Sourced from the historic Castello di Brolio estate, which has been in the Ricasoli family for centuries, the wine is a thoughtful expression of the region’s diverse terroirs. It is blended from grapes grown across the estate`s extensive holdings, based on soils of clay-shale galestro and stony alberese limestone. This classic Chianti Classico is medium-bodied, presenting a profile of bright red cherry, raspberry and a subtle floral note, with a fresh acidity and firm, well-integrated tannins.

The Barone Ricasoli 2023 Chianti Classico Brolio is a large production of 500,000 bottles that has maintained consistent quality over the years. This was a challenging vintage, with high mildew pressure across the region, but Francesco Ricasoli says his estate was blessed with high yields and good quality. A blend of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino, this wine shows blackcurrant, grilled rosemary, dried lavender bud and some burnt notes from a hot vintage. I even get a hint of black olive. The presentation is simple, and this is a near-term wine nonetheless, but it does show pretty brightness.
