Domaine Philippe Colin Chevalier-Montrachet is a Grand Cru white Burgundy from the Côte de Beaune. This vineyard sits on a steep, thin-soiled slope just above Montrachet, producing wines of legendary precision and mineral intensity. The 2019 vintage was warm and low-yielding, resulting in a wine with significant concentration and a rich, oily texture. Colin utilises careful oak management to ensure the intense stony character of the Grand Cru is not masked. It offers a sophisticated palate of white peach, honeysuckle and a long, saline finish.

The 2019 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a pure bouquet that blossoms in the glass, with perfumed orange pith, jasmine and light waxy scents. The palate is beautifully balanced with a silky texture, perfectly judged acidity, light spice notes and a touch of chamomile and white pepper toward the finish. Perhaps it needs just a touch more persistence on the aftertaste? This is a very promising Chevalier-Montrachet if your expectations are not sky high. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
