Founded in 2004, Domaine Philippe Colin has established a reputation for producing high-quality, terroir-driven white wines that exemplify the unique character of Chassagne-Montrachet and its surrounding appellations. This particular release hails from Chevalier-Montrachet, one of five Grand Cru vineyards located in a cluster around the Mont-Rachet hill. While the 2011 vintage in Burgundy presented its challenges, skilled winemakers like Domaine Philippe Colin were able to navigate these difficulties and craft wines that showcase their expertise.

Vinous
Bright medium yellow. Pure, subdued nose hints at peach, honey, clove and white flowers. Then almost electric in the mouth, with bracing crushed-stone minerality to the flavors of lemon and grapefruit. Densely packed, tactile and intense yet almost magically light on its feet. The vibrant finish features a slowly building whiplash of fruits and minerals. I'd give this six to eight years in the cellar before pulling the cork. I find this more typical of its terroir than the 2012 version, which is almost too rich.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2013
