Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet 2016 is a white wine from the esteemed Grand Cru site of Chevalier-Montrachet in Côte de Beaune. Known for its mineral depth, the wine features notes of chalk, green apple and subtle florals, reflecting the terroir’s unique composition. This vintage exhibits a pronounced tension and structure that may evolve beautifully with time. Domaine Leflaive has adhered to biodynamic practices since 1997, emphasising an ecologically sensitive approach to viticulture.
Vinous
(as with the Bâtard, the yield was not much more than ten hectoliters per hectare): Very pure aromas of lemon, lime, white flowers and liquid stone. Quite rich and concentrated but tight and youthfully clenched. There was very little fruit in 2016 from the upper, more minerally part of the vineyard, noted Brice de la Morandière, which may have resulted in a heavier wine than normal. But this wine boasts a strong spine, even if it's still an infant today. Stephen Tanzer1st September 2018

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
