Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet 2013 is a full-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Grand Cru climat of Chevalier-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. One of the iconic domaines of Burgundy, Domaine Leflaive was founded in the 18th century in Puligny-Montrachet. The domaine has been certified biodynamic since 1997. Leflaive Grands Crus can be powerful yet austere when young and often require 10 to 15 years of ageing to show their true colours, but when they do, they are among the most profound from the Côte d`Or. The 2013 Chevalier-Montrachet is available here in magnum format. "The 2013 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a powerful but controlled bouquet with scents of dried honey, brioche and orange blossom, a touch of mineralité tucked just behind. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, lively in the mouth with very impressive weight, retaining superb delineation and focus on the gunflint finish that has more to give, and it will with 4-5 years in bottle. This is sophisticated and entrancing." Neal Martin, 2016

The 2013 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is in a really good place at the moment. The nose is not immensely powerful, yet displays stunning delineation, excellent mineralité and focus. Traces of orchard fruit develop with time. The palate has a fabulous palate, a very "balletic" Chevalier-Montrachet that dances across the senses with just the right amount of sapidity to urge another sip. Superb. Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
