Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet 2015 is a full-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Grand Cru climat of Chevalier-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. One of the iconic domaines of Burgundy, Domaine Leflaive was founded in the 18th century in Puligny-Montrachet. The domaine has been certified biodynamic since 1997. Leflaive Grands Crus can be powerful yet austere when young and often require 10 to 15 years of ageing to show their true colours, but when they do, they are among the most profound from the Côte d`Or. "Very pale, bright, green-tinged yellow. High-pitched aromas of pineapple, peach pit and redcurrant are lively and pure. Silky, fine-grained and sweet, with harmonious acidity and penetrating chalky minerality giving the fresh orchard fruit flavours terrific precision. At once seamless and gripping, this impeccably balanced wine finishes with a subtle whiplash of flavour that leaves the salivary glands humming." Vinous, 2017

The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has an aromatic bouquet of citrus fruit and mineral aromas infused with yellow flowers, along with beautifully integrated oak. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Perhaps it needs just a tad more energy and tension on the finish, but it is a class act and will repay bottle age. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM closure)Neal Martin1st November 2018

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
