Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles is located to the south of the Côte de Beaune, at the summit of the slope where the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet converge. Louis Jean Baptiste Jadot bought back the vineyard in 1913 from two sisters and decided to name it "Les Demoiselles". The 1999 vintage is packed with savoury and gunsmoke complexity. This elegant Grand Cru Chardonnay makes a highly versatile pairing partner, from foie gras to a range of seafood, cheeses and chicken-based dishes.

Knockout complex nose combines musky, superripe fruits, smoked meat, nut skin and stony minerality. Large-scaled and thoroughly ripe, with compellingly floral and mineral inner-mouth character. A Chevalier of extraordinary volume and class; for a wine so rich, it remarkably light on its feet. Finishes extremely long and subtle, with lively peach and pear flavors and great verve. Certainly one of the top half-dozen wines of the vintage.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2001
