Though Louis Jadot is one of the leading négociants of Burgundy, any wine labelled as “Héritiers des Louis Jadot” indicates a cru which has historically belonged to the Jadot family. The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Demoiselles is a superb wine with excellent fruit weight, rich texture, incisive acidity and a wonderfully long, mineral-infused finish. It is perfect for drinking now but in larger format bottles this should evolve beautifully over the next 20-30+ years.

The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles Grand Cru has an understated bouquet of attractive apple blossom and light white chocolate scents but needs more intensity and clarity. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, and heavier in the mouth than its peers. A tang of citrus peel, marmalade and quince emerges toward the finish, which fans out with style. This has more to give, so allow it four or five years in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM closure)Neal Martin1st November 2018

The very essence of Burgundy

Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis in 1859. Over the last 165 years the company maintained exceptional quality of its wines through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy and now produce wines from over 150 appellations.

Jadot owns almost 125ha of vineyards in the Côte d’Or and more than 298 vineyard parcels sites including 14 Grand Cru and 74 Premier Cru. Within the last decade Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards around Beaune have been managed following organic principles and are in the process of organic certification for the 2024 vintage.

From vineyard to bottle, sustainability is a core part of their approach. Since 2019, all Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards have the High Environmental Value level 3 certification. This is a voluntary approach which aims to identify and promote particularly environmentally-friendly practices applied by farmers. It covers biodiversity conservation, plant protection strategy, management of fertiliser use and management of water.
