Domaine de la Charbonnière spans approximately 19 hectares of vineyards, primarily located in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The vineyards are planted with traditional grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and others. The estate is owned and managed by the Maret family. Michel Maret and his two daughters, Véronique and Caroline, oversee the operations and winemaking at the estate. Hautes Brusquières is a 60.40 combination of Grenache and Syrah – occasionally with a dash of Counoise – from the Brusquières plateau. The 2009 vintage in Châteauneuf-du-Pape is generally regarded as an excellent year. It was a warm and dry growing season, which resulted in wines of great ripeness, concentration, and depth.

The biggest, richest 2009 of the three is undoubtedly the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Hautes Brusquières Cuvee Spéciale. The first words I wrote in my notes were “Rock Star,” and this awesome 2009 is overflowing with notions of black currants, licorice, roasted herbs and garrigue. Thick, rich, chewy and unctuous, it’s similar to the Vieilles Vignes, yet has another level of fat and texture.Jeb Dunnuck28th October 2016

(60% grenache, 39% syrah and 1% counoise): Vivid purple. Cherry and dark berries on the highly fragrant nose. Suave and expansive, with impressive depth to its ripe dark fruit flavors, which are braced by tangy minerality.
