Famed Châteauneuf-du-Pape producer, Domaine de Pegau, only introduced a premium white cuvée to their range in 2014. Named Cuvée a Tempo Blanc it is made from equal parts Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Clairette, vinified in a combination of concrete eggs, stainless steel and barriques. The 2016 is a sublime release of richness and exuberance but superb balance and restraint. It offers up lashings of honeyed stone fruits and citrus, with subtle nuances of white flowers, tea and citrus oil. Certainly more oriented towards pairing with food, this would be utterly superb with turbot roasted whole on a bed of braised fennel.

Transparent yellow-gold. An impressively complex, mineral-accented bouquet displays aromas of ripe citrus and orchard fruits, nori, buttered toast and jasmine, and a hint of anise sneaks in as the wine opens up. At once deep and lithe on the palate, offering vibrant Meyer lemon, pear, gingerbread and fennel flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Displays superb tension and thrust on a mineral- and floral-driven finish that refuses to let up. I'd have absolutely no problem lining up this remarkable wine alongside a group of high-end Grand Cru white Burgundies from that region's biggest names.Josh Raynolds1st October 2018

A Legacy of Tradition in Châteauneuf-du-Pape

In the sun-drenched vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine du Pegau stands as a testament to the power and complexity of Rhône Valley wines. Under the guidance of Laurence and Paul Féraud, the estate produces wines that are both rich and deeply expressive of their terroir. With vines averaging 50 years old, Pegau’s wines are renowned for their ability to age, developing layers of flavor that include dark fruit, spice, and earthy undertones. The Féraud family’s dedication to traditional winemaking techniques ensures that each vintage tells the story of the land, making Domaine du Pegau a cornerstone of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
