Louis Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociants in Burgundy, offering a vast portfolio of wines – from easy-drinking, accessible Bourgogne to complex, age-worthy Grand Cru expressions. The company is today run by Pierre-Henri Gagey, assisted by head winemaker Frédéric Barnier. The wines under the ‘Duc de Magenta’ label indicate those owned by the namesake family, but farming of the vineyards and vinification is carried out by Louis Jadot under a long-term contract. Clos de la Chapelle is a 2-hectare monopole in Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot and produces wines that are typically full-bodied, with a rich texture, vibrant acidity and distinctive minerality. The 2020 vintage is available here in half-bottles.

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle 1er Cru has an effervescent, energetic bouquet with wet limestone, citrus peel and light orange pith scents - all very seductive and well-defined. The palate is nicely balanced with slightly more depth and grip than Simon Colin`s Morgeot. The silver thread of acidity lends this energy. It is very poised, but there is a coiled-up sense of animation and life-affirming mineralité on the finish. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. - Neil Martin - The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle 1er Cru has an effervescent, energetic bouquet with wet limestone, citrus peel and light orange pith scents - all very seductive and well-defined. The very essence of Burgundy

Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis in 1859. Over the last 165 years the company maintained exceptional quality of its wines through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy and now produce wines from over 150 appellations.

Jadot owns almost 125ha of vineyards in the Côte d’Or and more than 298 vineyard parcels sites including 14 Grand Cru and 74 Premier Cru. Within the last decade Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards around Beaune have been managed following organic principles and are in the process of organic certification for the 2024 vintage.

From vineyard to bottle, sustainability is a core part of their approach. Since 2019, all Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards have the High Environmental Value level 3 certification.
