Domaine Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers 2002 is a fully mature 1er Cru white Burgundy from one the leading domaines in the Côte d`Or. Among aficionados, Ramonet Chardonnays are considered true benchmarks of Burgundy`s limestone terroir. Fermentations are carried out without much settling of the solids, while new oak is kept to a minimum. The resulting wines are pure, dense and complex, unveiling themselves slowly. Founded in the 1920s by Pierre Ramonet, the domaine is now managed by third-generation proprietors Noël and Jean-Claude Ramonet. "Pure, nuanced nose combines lime, flowers, mint and liquorice. Suave on entry, then bright and penetrating but not hard, with enticing limey acidity intensifying the floral and citrus flavours. A step up in depth and length from the 2002s that preceded it. Finishes very brisk, with terrific cut." International Wine Cellar, 2004
