Domaine Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet Les Ruchottes 2001 is a mature 1er Cru white Burgundy from one of the most renowned Chardonnay domaines in the Côte de Beaune. Among aficionados, Ramonet Chardonnays are considered true benchmarks of Burgundy`s limestone terroir. "There is a bit more of everything with simply beautiful complexity and splendid depth with seemingly endless amounts of sappy, sweet extract and an understated, long, textured and detailed finish. This is not as edgy as the Caillerets and while there is a clear mineral component to this as well, the Ruchottes is rounder and displays brilliant balance between power yet no lack of finesse. This too is most impressive." Burghound, 2003

Leesy, smoky aromas of poached pear, nuts and vanilla bean. Fat, spicy and ripe but quite dry, with concentrated pear and floral flavors of impressive breadth. Long finish throws off notes of pear, pineapple and spicy oak. Broader but a bit less gripping than it appeared to be from barrel a year ago.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2003
