Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets Fontaine Gagnard 2013 is a Premier Cru Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy. The vineyard is known for its distinct terroir, where the upper slopes` stony soil blends with the clay-rich lower sections. The 2013 vintage benefitted from a challenging year, resulting in a wine that exhibits a defined mineral profile alongside subtle richness. Aged in a mix of new and used oak, this Chassagne-Montrachet presents a pronounced acidity and intricate structure.

The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Caillerets has an enthralling bouquet full of chalk and flint scents, all with great precision, hints of orange blossom developing in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with impressive depth – subtle white peach notes inflecting the fruit with a smooth and sensual butterscotch-tinged finish that feels long in the mouth. This should offer immense pleasure over the next decade and more.
16 Jancis Robinson
Gentle toasty oak over citrus and melon fruit. Very dry and tight and just a little too tart on the finish, though would probably be good with white fish without too much richness. (JH)
