Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 2017 is a 1er Cru white Burgundy from the La Romanée climat south of Chassagne in the Cote de Beaune. Not to be confused with Gevrey`s 1er Premier Cru La Romanée vineyard, nor indeed the iconic Vosne-Romanée Grands Crus, Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée produces fleshy, yet mineral Chardonnays with notes of citrus, stone fruits, almond and honeysuckle. The Jadot 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée is an elegant and refined Chardonnay with a fine mineral dimension to its floral, citrus and peach-led fruits.
Vinous
The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 1er Cru reveals hints of fennel and wild mint trying to surface through a fog of reduction. The palate shows more clarity, offering finely tuned, quite nutty citrus fruit. There is good depth and harmony here, although I find a little more complexity and persistence on the en Cailleret at the moment. Still, this feels nicely assured, and it should drink well for the next 12 to 15 years. (DIAM GC closure)Neal Martin1st January 2019
