Bernard Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet 2018 is a medium-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Domaine Bernard Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet represents one of the finest examples of the terroir of the appellation. Guided by organic farming in the vineyard and low-intervention principles in the cellar, Alex Moreau crafts barrel-aged Chardonnays of real distinction. Typically, the domaine`s wines are aged in French oak barrels (10%-50% new) for 12 to 20 months depending on the vineyard and vintage. "The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Village had been blended in July and fined three weeks prior to my visit. It has a delightful bouquet of orange blossom, tinned peach and touches of wild mint, quite intense for a Village Cru. The palate is taut, fresh and spicy on the entry, with touches of white pepper and fennel infusing the citrus fruit. An almost clinical saline finish lingers in the mouth. Superb." Vinous, 2020

The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Village, which was bottled in January 2020, offers attractive green apple and lime scents on the nose, a touch of citrus peel developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded texture, creamy and generous, what you might call a crowd-pleasing Chassagne that would win wide approval, though maybe the 2019 has a tad more intellect, a view shared by Alex Moreau.
