Based in Beaune, Olivier Bernstein is a micro-négociant producing wines from some of the finest vineyards in the Côte d`Or. A relatively new name in Burgundy, Touraine-born Olivier produced his very first vintage in 2007. His currently portfolio includes 6 grands crus, three premier crus, three white wines and a single village cuvée from Gevrey-Chambertin. This release is his 2012 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, made from 45-year-old vines. Expect plenty of red fruits, mingled with notes of gravel, toasted oak, spices and a touch of cigar smoke.

Vinous
Medium-deep red. Very ripe aromas of cherry, red berry liqueur and licorice, plus a whiff of smoke. A step up in density of texture, sweetness and spicy lift from the Cazetiers, offering a distinctly smoother, more feminine character. The very fine-grained red berry flavors show an almost candied quality, but sound acidity gives the wine excellent clarity. Finishes with harmonious tannins and noteworthy length. This has turned out very well.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2015
