93 Vinous
(30 hectoliters per hectare produced): Good deep healthy red, the darkest of these 2014s to this point by a wide margin. Fresh scents of dark cherry, minerals, licorice, smoke and earth. Broad, fat and sweet but nicely sappy; I'm not sure I would have picked the vintage blind. The fine-grained black fruit flavors carry impressively through a very long finish. This highly concentrated, edge-free, youthful wine really saturates the mouth and stimulates the taste buds.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2017

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Top Flight Biodynamic Burgundy

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
