A superb Grand Cru from one of the most famous names in the Cotes de Nuits.
Vinous
(a 50/50 blend of Charmes and Mazoyères): Bright, full red. Alluring scents of black raspberry, red cherry and rose petal; lovely classic Charmes but a bit redder than usual for this cuvée at this address. Sappy and energetic in the mouth, combining compelling sweetness of fruit with good grip. The very long, rising finish features a firm tannic structure. This grand cru will be sexy early on and should age well. Stephen Tanzer1st January 2018

The 2016 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru has a detailed, stony, quite Mazoyères-like bouquet in terms of structure, adorned with a subtle marine influence coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with vibrant red berry fruit, raspberry and crushed strawberry, quite linear with veins of orange sorbet that enlivens and lends a measured exotic twist to the finish. Very fine, and I suspect it will age with style.Neal Martin29th December 2017

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
