Charmes-Chambertin Aux Mazoyères Christophe Roumier 2002 is a Grand Cru red Burgundy produced entirely from Pinot Noir grapes, sourced from the esteemed Aux Mazoyères vineyard. This area is characterised by its clay-limestone soils, which contribute to the wine`s structure. Domaine Christophe Roumier, known for its rigorous vineyard practices and traditional techniques, seeks to showcase the terroir`s authenticity. The 2002 vintage benefitted from a favourable growing season, resulting in wines with notable balance and concentration. This bottling typically undergoes fermentation with whole clusters and is aged in oak barrels, a proportion of which are new.

In order to help consumers understand the provenance of his Charmes-Chambertin, Christophe Roumier has added “En Mazoyeres” to his 2002, clearly indicating that it is from the Mazoyeres-Chambertin vineyard . It bursts from the glass with stupendous, mouth-watering aromas of kirsch, candied cherries, perfume, flowers, and Asian spices. On the palate it is silky-textured, lush, medium-bodied, and sweet. Its suave flavor profile reveals loads of forward red fruit notes that linger in its long, ripe tannin-packed finish. Projected maturity. 2006-2013. - Pierre Rovani
