Duckhorn Three Palms Vineyard Merlot 1985 showcases the distinct characteristics of one of Napa Valley`s earliest single-vineyard Merlots. Since producing its inaugural vintage in 1978, Duckhorn Vineyards has established a reputation for excellence. This Merlot, sourced from the famed Three Palms Vineyard, offers a robust flavour profile typical of the region, marked by dark fruit and subtle earthiness. The vineyard`s unique terroir imparts complexity, making it a reference point for New World Merlot.
90 Vinous
(two-thirds from Mazoyeres): Very ripe aromas and flavors of cherry, raspberry, redcurrant, gibier and rose petal, plus a whiff of smoked meat. At once fruity and savory, showing less inner-mouth lift than the Cazetiers but in a more elegant style. Finishes with firm, sweet tannins and enticing lingering perfume.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2014
