The 2002 Charmes-Chambertin from Domaine Armand Rousseau is a rich and expressive Grand Cru that combines power with finesse. It offers aromas of ripe red and dark berries, dried herbs, forest floor and gentle spice. On the palate it is full-bodied yet balanced, with silky tannins and bright acidity supporting layered flavours of cherry, plum, earth and subtle oak. The wine shows a mature complexity with hints of leather and truffle emerging, while maintaining freshness and vibrancy. It is drinking well now and will continue to evolve gracefully over the next several years.

Palish medium red. Light, lively aromas of red fruits and rose petal. Spicy, lively and light, with bright raspberry and currant flavors and good inner-mouth energy. Finishes with supple, ripe tannins. There's nothing aggressive about this grand cru.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2004
