Chapelle-Chambertin Trapet 2013 is a Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin, produced by an estate that has been a pioneer in biodynamic viticulture since the 1990s. The 2013 vintage yielded wines of great transparency and elegance, with this Chapelle Chambertin offering notes of wild berries, blackcurrant and savoury peppery hints. The nose opens slowly to reveal a rich, earthy profile, while the palate is supported by strong, smooth tannins and an enveloping structure. This wine reflects the cooler nature of the year through its bright acidity and focused mineral finish, standing as a refined and soulful expression of one of Burgundy`s most respected terroirs.

Good dark, bright red. Deep, brooding, very primary aromas of dark cherry, spices and flowers. Supple, juicy and youthful, with enticing red berry and spice flavors complicated by saline minerality. Lovely balance and suavity here. Fine-grained tannins carry the fruit through a silky finish. Much easier to taste today than the Alea premier cru. This was 12.6% potential alcohol, chaptalized to 13%; the pH at the harvest was a low 3.1, according to Trapet.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2016
