Domaine Rossignol-Trapet are an excellent biodynamic producer based in Gevrey-Chambertin. The domaine flies somewhat under the radar but is producing an array of exceptionally consistent wines renowned for their purity, elegance and longevity. This wine comes from two parcels in Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru – En la Chapelle and Les Gémeaux – which sit just below Clos de Bèze. 2014 is a vastly underrated vintage and this is a wonderful release that is perfect for drinking now.

Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru has a lifted bouquet, floral and effervescent with shimmering red cherry and strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity, very classy and pure with a caressing, tender but persistent finish that is a pure joy despite its austerity. Rossignol-Trapet's Chapelle-Chambertin seems to be improving in bottle. Just a wonderful grand cru. Tasted September 2017.Neal Martin31st October 2017
Vinous
Good full red. Darker but less perfumed on the nose than the Latricières, offering aromas of black raspberry and licorice complicated by smoke and cocoa powder and perked up by peppery spices. Silky-sweet in the mouth; clearly the plushest and densest of these 2014s to this point. There's more mid-palate stuffing here to support the slightly dusty, late-arriving tannins. This is always a dense wine, notes David Rossignol--closer to Chambertin in style than to Griottes, for example.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2016
