The foundations of Maison Louis Jadot date back to 1859 when Louis Henry Denis Jadot set up as a merchant. Today, Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociants in Burgundy, with a vast portfolio of wines – from easy-drinking, accessible Bourgogne to complex, age-worthy Grand Crus. This release comes from the Chapelle-Chambertin vineyard, situated on the slope between Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru and Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru. A multi-layered nose, including spices, toasty oak, liquorice and dark berries. The palate is intense and concentrated, with an amazing grip and length.

Deep ruby-red. Black raspberry and subtle oak on the nose; this shows much more energy and verve than the Latricieres, which comes off as dull by comparison. Sweet, chewy and complex, with sharply delineated black raspberry and mineral flavors. This has creamy depth. Finishes with dusty, buffered tannins and excellent persistence. As impressive as the Bonnes-Mares, but the Bonnes-Mares is more elegant.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2003

Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis in 1859. Over the last 165 years the company maintained exceptional quality of its wines through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy and now produce wines from over 150 appellations.

Jadot owns almost 125ha of vineyards in the Côte d’Or and more than 298 vineyard parcels sites including 14 Grand Cru and 74 Premier Cru. Within the last decade Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards around Beaune have been managed following organic principles and are in the process of organic certification for the 2024 vintage.
