Maison Louis Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociants in Burgundy, with a vast portfolio of wines – from easy-drinking, accessible Bourgogne to complex, age-worthy Grand Cru expressions. This release comes from the Chapelle-Chambertin vineyard, situated on the slope between Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru and Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru. The 1999 vintage in Burgundy produced wines of good quality with excellent ripeness and balance. The weather conditions throughout the growing season were favourable, leading to healthy grapes and good concentration.
91 Vinous
Deep ruby-red. Perfumed nose of blackberry and minerals, plus a complicating vegetal hint. Very dense and deep; not yet expressive in the middle, but this very concentrated wine shows an old-viney creaminess of texture and lovely subtle persistence. The yield here was around 45 hectoliters per hectare, according to Lardiere.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2001
