Domaine Robert Groffier Père & Fils is one of the leading wineries in the Morey-Saint-Denis. The estate covers approximately 7 hectares of land that includes parcels in the most prestigious Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. This specific cuvée comes from the Premier Cru ‘Les Sentiers’, where Groffier owns a 1.07-hectare plot. In the 2010 vintage, expect a continuous display of vibrant red cherries and berries, complemented by savoury spices. This wine boasts a pleasing weight on the palate and an elegant texture throughout.

Bright, full ruby-red. Wild, musky aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, bitter chocolate and leather, with a suggestion of superripe fruit. Dense and vibrant, with intense crushed dark berry and chocolate flavors. Finishes very long, with strong tannins for aging. I don't find quite the acid spine that I did a year ago from barrel, but there's strong material here for aging.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2013

Savoury aroma, a touch peppery, even a little bit leafy, though fully ripe. That same dry texture as Les Seuvrées. A sort of dark, hidden quality that is not trying to please at the moment. A little austere though it has depth and length. Needs time to learn charm, though it is surprisingly fragrant on the long finish. (JH)Julia Harding11th January 2012
