Les Lavettes is a premier cru vineyard that sits just beneath grand cru Bonnes-Mares. Celebrated négociant and winemaker Olivier Bernstein has just under 1 hectare of 15-year-old vines from where he produces this elegant cuvée. The 2017 vintage offers a delicate and fruity nose. On the palate, the tannins are fine and silky, and the length is impressive. This is an excellent entry point to the style and quality on offer from Bernstein’s portfolio.

Just below Bonnes Mares at the entrance to the village. 100% new oak. Barrel sample – already racked from barrel to barrel. More perfumed with red fruit than the Gevrey village wine. Much more subtle. Racy on the palate, bright and fine-boned but with precision and length. The fruit has eaten the oak, which gives structure more than flavour. Finesse and elegance already in the tannins. (JH)Julia Harding3rd December 2018
