Located in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Dujac is undoubtedly one of Burgundy’s finest wine producers. Originally founded in 1968 by Jacques Seysses, the estate is currently managed by his sons Jeremy and Alec Seysses, and daughter-in-law Diana. This release comes from ‘Les Gruenchers’, a lieu-dit north of the village of Chambolle-Musigny where Dujac owns a 0.32 parcel. The 2001 is a classic Dujac, revealing aromas of red cherries, spices and dried herbs. The palate is silky, with bright acidity and plenty of fruit richness, punctuated by earthy undertones.
91 Vinous
Medium red. Highly perfumed aromas of strawberry, raspberry, coffee, underbrush, roasted meat and sweet oak; slightly high-toned and seductively candied. Smooth on the palate but also high-pitched and very fresh, with an intriguing combination of stony minerality, superripe red fruits and underbrush. Lovely thickness of texture nicely leavened by sound acidity. This has absorbed its 100% new oak nicely.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2004

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
