Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes 2018 is a 1er Cru Burgundy Pinot Noir from the Chambolle-Musigny appellation of the Côte de Nuits. The domaine of Mugneret-Gibourg was formed in 2009 from the amalgamation of the domaines of Mugneret-Gibourg and Dr Georges Mugneret. The domaine is now diligently managed by the daughters of Dr Georges Mugneret, Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée Mugneret. Hand harvesting in the vineyards combined with rigorous grape selection ensures the highest possible quality fruit goes into the domaine`s wines. For the Pinot Noirs, fruit is mostly destemmed with levels of new oak kept at a moderate level. "The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes is the ripest wine in the cellar this year, checking in at 14.2% alcohol, and the fermentation took a long time to finish; indeed, the wine only went to barrel in December. The Mugneret sisters’ attentive vindication, however, has resulted in a superb cuvee that bursts from the glass with a lavish bouquet of raspberries, red cherries, rose petals, blood orange and warm spices. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, layered and enveloping, with lively acids, superb concentration and a sun-kissed sweetness of fruit that reflects the vintage." Robert Parker, 2019

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes 1er Cru has a beautifully defined nose of vivid red berry fruit infused with wilted rose petals and peony. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, and so harmonious that you would not guess that the fermentation did not begin until the beginning of December! At 14.2°, the alcohol is disguised, though it does seem to scalp some of the precision. — Neal Martin, 1st December 2020
