Méo-Camuzet Frère et Sœurs is the second label of Domaine Méo-Camuzet, one of the most celebrated producers in Burgundy, renowned for their superb holdings of vineyards in Vosne-Romanée. The Frère et Sœurs ["Brother and Sisters"] label is typically used for wines made from purchased grapes or from young vines. The `Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru `Les Cras` 2013`, is a red Burgundy from the `Les Cras` vineyard, one of the Premier Cru sites within the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. Wines from this vineyard are often praised for their elegance and finesse, showcasing a delicate balance between fruit purity and structure.
Vinous
(négociant wine; tasted from a new barrel as the used barrels had not yet finished their secondary fermentation): Bright medium red. Musky black raspberry, smoke and minerals on the nose. Then almost shockingly austere in the mid-palate, with a firm edge of rocky minerality currently dominating the wine's underlying berry fruit. The bracing finish features slightly tough tannins, with notes of licorice, mint and fresh herbs giving the aftertaste a slightly raw quality. This cuvée has not been particularly gentle in recent years, Méo admitted.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2015
