The 2002 Chambolle-Musigny Les Chatelots from Ghislaine Barthod is a refined and elegant expression of this lesser-known parcel within the Chambolle appellation. Barthod’s commitment to organic farming and low-intervention winemaking shines through in this wine, which offers aromas of ripe red fruit, floral notes, and a hint of spice. The palate is harmonious, with smooth tannins, bright acidity, and a fine minerality that adds depth. The 2002 vintage offers a classic balance of richness and freshness, with the potential to age gracefully, revealing even more complexity with time.

Good bright red. Reduced aromas of black fruits. Less fruity and more minerally than the Combottes, but extremely closed and tough today, even a bit dry on the finish. Barthod says this was much more elegant than the Combottes at an earlier stage, but is developing at a snail`s pace as it`s in the coldest corner of the cellar. Almost certainly richer than it`s showing today.
