Les Amoureuses is the most famous and highly respected of the Premier Cru climats in Chambolle-Musigny and is undoubtedly a star in the Le Moine portfolio. The 2015 is a phenomenal wine with seemingly otherworldly and exotic scents of blackberry, berry liquer, spiced tea and earth. It is particularly ripe in style, but the overall balance is exceptional.
Vinous
Dark red-ruby. Very ripe, perfumed scents of blackberry, black raspberry, licorice and violet. At once thick and sharply delineated, conveying an impression of creamy depth to its flavors of black fruits, tropical bitter chocoate and violet. In a distinctly ripe style for Amoureuses despite the fact that these vines were picked early (the malolactic fermentation was very late). But this wine, notes Saouma, has been perfectly balanced from the start. He described it as a gentleman, from a happy piece of land. He also told me that this is the only wine you won't need to cafare. Why? Because I'm not going to sell it! A small percentage of stems has no doubt contributed to the wine's impression of energy and definition.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2017

Lucien Le Moine

A Boutique Négociant

Founded by Mounir and Rotem Saouma in the late 1990s, Lucien Le Moine is a small, quality focussed négociant that bottle wines from some of the greatest Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The team aim to bottle around 100 barrels each vintage, which can sometimes represent over 60 different wines. There are no contracts with the growers and no winemaking requirements from Lucien Le Moine beyond the stipulation that the wines be of the highest possible quality.

The wines arrive with Lucien Le Moine fully vinified and Rotem and Mounir focus solely on élévage, racking the wines into new oak barrels made to their own particular specifications. It's tricky to generalise across dozens of wines from many different crus, but both the whites and reds tend towards the generous with a ripeness of fruit and a fullness of body that is rare in the Côte d'Or.
