The founding of the Maison Louis Jadot dates back to 1859 when Louis Henry Denis Jadot set up as a merchant. Today, Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociants in Burgundy, with a vast portfolio of appellations – from accessible village wines to complex, age-worthy Grand Crus. This cuvée hails from Les Amoureuses, a Premier Cru vineyard within the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. Jadot’s plot had to be completely replanted in 1986 after a severe frost in 1985. Although it is still too early to give a definitive assessment on Burgundy 2020, most reports suggest that the vintage is shaping up to be outstanding.

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru contains 30% whole bunch, although it is difficult to tell. It has a beautiful bouquet with plush black cherry and blueberry fruit, crushed violets and incense blossoming with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. There is a fine bead of acidity here, fresh and harmonious, slightly creamy in texture towards the finish and endowed with very long length. Ravishing! - Neil Martin
