Based in Beaune, Louis Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociant houses in Burgundy. Its vast portfolio offers over 220 different wines from key vineyards in Chablis, the Côte d’Or, Côte Chalonnaise, the Maconnais and Beaujolais. This cuvée is from Les Amoureuses, a Premier Cru vineyard within the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. Jadot’s plot had to be completely replanted in 1986 after a severe frost in 1985. This release from the 2016 vintage delivers lovely aromas of red cherries, strawberries, rose petals and orange zest. The palate is delicate and generous, with a solid core of fruit.
Vinous
Bright red. Wonderfully perfumed aromas of cranberry, raspberry and crushed rock. Enters the mouth with good texture and thickness, then turns very tight and compressed in the middle palate, conveying dynamic energy to its brooding flavors of tart red berries and minerals. This extremely backward wine is dramatically bound-up today, even a bit inscrutable. Barnier noted that it was racked last June but could use another racking soon, not to mention more élevage. He probably won't bottle this wine until May or June, noting that he will take his time bottling the '16s. Stephen Tanzer1st January 2018
