Domaine Bruno Clavelier. It is a small, family-owned estate located in Vosne-Romanée, in the Côte de Nuits. It was founded in 1988 by Bruno Clavelier, who took over the reins from his grandfather, Joseph Brosson. He introduced biodynamic farming practices, and the estate has since achieved organic certification. This release hails from the Premier Cru La Combe d`Orveau, where Clavelier owns a 0.8-hectare plot. The 1999 vintage has developed nicely, entering a stage of maturity where the primary fruit flavours have evolved into more nuanced and secondary notes.

Vinous
Medium red. Very sexy, ripe, soil-driven aromas of plum and redcurrant. Plush and sweet on the palate, with its fully ripe red fruit flavors complicated by spices, dried flowers and underbrush. This very full wine conveys an impression of sucrosité but finishes with lovely saline mineral energy, firm tannins and noteworthy stony grip, not to mention terrific length. Bruno Clavelier described 1999 as a generous vintage but noted that this wine was quite tight at the beginning of its élevage. Today, he added, it's a great communicator, but he urged giving it three or four hours in a decanter before serving it.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2018
