The 2006 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses from Joseph Drouhin is a refined and expressive Burgundy, showcasing the elegance of both the vineyard and the domaine’s meticulous winemaking. Founded in 1880, Joseph Drouhin remains one of Burgundy’s most respected producers, known for its organic and biodynamic farming, gentle extraction, and focus on terroir transparency.
The 2006 vintage, cooler than its predecessor, produced wines with freshness and fine structure. This Amoureuses is delicate yet deep, with a perfumed nose of wild strawberries, raspberries, violets, and subtle spice. The palate is silky and precise, with layered red fruit, floral notes, and a mineral core, supported by finely grained tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long and elegant, reflecting the site’s hallmark finesse. While already showing beautifully, this wine has the structure to continue evolving gracefully in the cellar.

Palish red. Musky aromas of raspberry, smoke and game. Supple and round but missing the normal treble notes of this cru. Showing more earth today than bright fruits and flowers. Could use more clarity and lift. Finishes with dusty tannins.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2008
