Founded in 1859, Louis Jadot controls over 141 hectares of vineyards in the Côte d’Or, the majority of which are premier and grand cru sites. This release is their 2001 Chambertin, made with destemmed Pinot Noir grapes fermented in vats during 3 to 4 weeks. Aging takes place in oak barrels for approximately 18 months. The result is a fleshy, full-bodied and generous expression, with enticing aromas of liquorice and sous-bois. Ready to be enjoyed now.
90 Vinous
Bright ruby-red. Black raspberry and roasted herbs on the nose; a bit less vivacious than the Clos de Beze. Then sweetly oaky and rich, with lovely inner-mouth aromatics but not quite the class or detail of the Clos de Beze. A strong component of charred, chocolatey oak currently overshadows the wine's fruit. Finishes with sweet, suave tannins and excellent persistence.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2003
