Situated in Meursault, Domaine Jacques Prieur was originally established in the late 18th century and is currently overseen by Edouard Labruyère. The estate owns 21 hectares of vineyards including 9 grand crus and 14 premier crus – among them are three walled monopoles. This release is the 2002 vintage of the domaine’s Chambertin, made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on a 0.84-hectare plot. Expect a mature but still fruit-driven cuvée, boasting notes of dark fruits, black cherries and liquorice.

Vinous
Fresh, deep red. Deep, smoky aromas of blackberry, roots and underbrush; smells weighty. Then surprisingly brisk and fresh in the mouth, with well-defined flavors of crushed blackberry, currant and licorice. Finishes long and bright, with excellent lift. Classy, understated wine.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2005
