The wines of Domaine Leroy are some of the most sought-after in the world, both by collectors and consumers. The estate is led by one of the most influential women in the wine industry, Lalou Bize-Leroy, who also manages Maison Leroy and Domaine d`Auvenay. Comprised of just over 21 hectares, Domaine Leroy boasts impressive holdings across nine Grand Crus and eight Premier Crus, all farmed biodynamically. This release is from Chambertin, the prestigious Grand Cru vineyard where Leroy owns a 0.7-hectare plot. The 2013 vintage was awarded an impressive 19.5 score by the British wine critic Jancis Robinson.
Jancis Robinson
After the outstanding Latricieres-Chambertin ’13, the 2013 Chambertin appeared sultrier and introspective, difficult to read at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, perhaps more backbone than the Latricieres but at the same time, its seriousness is quite arresting after the flamboyance of its “sister” Grand Cru. It is a Chambertin that does not quite want to get to know you at this absurdly premature juncture and it will require 8-10 years in bottle.Neal Martin30th December 2014

Hand Picked Burgundies

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988). Maison Leroy was founded by François Leroy as a négociant house in 1868 in the village of Auxey-Duresses and is today headed up by the renowned Lalou Bize-Leroy.

Unlike Domaine Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay, Maison Leroy represents a portfolio of wines selected by Lalou, but not made by Lalou. Vignerons from across Burgundy will submit their wines for evaluation and, following a blind tasting, Lalou will select just a few to be bottled under the Maison label.
