Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze is a celebrated grand cru vineyard situated at the northern end of the Côte d`Or. It is one of the oldest ‘clos’ in Burgundy, having been created by the Abbey of Bèze in the 7th century. Some high-profile producers cultivate vines here, including Domaine Robert Groffier. With a near-perfect harvest, Burgundy produced a golden vintage in 2002, with Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays delivering exceptional quality that occurs only a few times each century.

Vinous
- Good full red; not too clear. Flamboyant aromas of black raspberry, smoked meat, black olive, wild herbs, licorice and dark chocolate. Wonderfully silky, full and sweet, but with strong acid bite to cut to leaven the impression of sucrosité. (These 2002s are really showing their acidity now more than they did in the beginning, noted Nicolas Groffier.) Mineral and floral elements contribute to the impression of inner-mouth tension and draw out the finish of this beauty.
