Domaine Michel Magnien is a highly regarded biodynamic wine producer based in Morey-Saint-Denis. The estate is currently managed by Frédéric Magnien, who also produces an eponymous range of wines made from fruit purchased from local growers. This particular release comes from Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze, one of several Grand Cru sites in one contiguous plot on the Côte d`Or. Despite a growing season cooler than usual, France experienced an exceptional year, yielding legendary wines from Bordeaux, Sauternes, and the Rhône Valley, as well as outstanding wines from Burgundy, Beaujolais, Loire, and Alsace.

Good deep red. Great soil-driven nose offers black raspberry, dried flowers, musky roast coffee, beef stock, soy sauce and bone marrow. Sweet and round but taut and utterly vibrant, conveying an impression of solidity without weight. Utterly captivating today but has the intensity and verve for a slow and positive evolution in bottle. The impressively long finish features noble ripe tannins and lingering notes of raspberry and smoked meat.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2013

The 2010 Chambertin-Clos de Beze is a big wine bursting with dark blue and black fruit, violets, mint and licorice. The Beze fleshes out in all directions, showing remarkable depth and fullness through to a finish supported by firm yet polished tannins. This is another impressive showing. Anticipated maturity:2020-2030.
