Domaine Drouhin-Laroze, based in the heart of Gevrey, has one of the most impressive portfolios of Premier and Grand Crus in the Côte de Nuits. The 2017 Clos de Bèze comes from a 1.5ha parcel planted in 1949 and is deeply intense in aroma with superb precision on the palate. This would be ideal with ripened cheeses such as Morbier.

Lively and more transparent than the Bonnes-Mares. A bit more attenuated. In fact there is quite a bit of acidity, even greenness here. This sample isn’t nearly as impressive as the Bonnes-Mares (JR)Jancis Robinson10th January 2019
Vinous
The 2017 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru matures in 25% whole bunches and matured in 80% new oak. It has a very intense bouquet with blackberry, briary and crushed stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a little oak to be subsumed on the entry (normal for this Grand Cru) with a broody and dense, quite muscular finish that will require several years to soften. Maybe the Clos de Vougeot and Bonnes-Mares demonstrate more personality at the moment? One for the long-haul.Neal Martin1st January 2019
