Chambertin Clos de Bèze Armand Rousseau 2005 is crafted from Pinot Noir sourced from a prestigious Grand Cru in Gevrey-Chambertin. This vineyard lies adjacent to Chambertin. The 2005 vintage reflects a warm growing season, leading to concentrated fruit expression. The wine exhibits dark berry notes, coupled with earthy undertones and subtle spice nuances. The magnum format allows for extended ageing potential, presenting an opportunity to explore its evolving character over time.

Good full red. Briary raspberry, dark cherry and menthol on the nose, along with a medicinal reserve. Powerful and thick on entry, then quite closed, even medicinal, in the middle, without the exotic character that this cuvee often shows in the early going. Quite closed today but this utterly seamless, superrich wine boasts superb structure and grip. Wonderfully long and pure on the back end, with strong but perfectly integrated acidity. Give this impeccably balanced wine 12 years.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2008
