Chambertin Clos de Bèze Armand Rousseau 2022 is a red wine from the prestigious Gevrey-Chambertin appellation in Burgundy. This Grand Cru is sourced from 1.4 hectares of vines planted in limestone-rich soils, resulting in a wine that presents distinct aromatic qualities compared to neighbouring vineyards. The 2022 vintage benefitted from warm weather, yielding grapes with 13.5% alcohol and ripe, supple tannins. Winemaker Armand Rousseau aged this cuvée in 90% new French oak, allowing for subtle integration of oak influence with the bold expression of Pinot Noir. The aromatic profile includes wild raspberries, violets, and hints of Asian spice, highlighting the silkiness characteristic of Clos de Bèze.
Vinous
The 2022 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has an ethereal beauty on the nose that will surely be enhanced once in bottle and given sufficient bottle age. Stunning delineation despite a tiny reduction that will be addressed during its remaining élevage. The medium-bodied palate has a little more tension and energy than the Chambertin, with brilliant precision yet real concentration and finesse. There is a subtle crescendo towards the finish that lingers tenderly in the mouth. Heavenly.Neal Martin17th January 2024
